What I learnt from Kate Spade about standing out in a crowded market

With so many businesses vying for your customer’s attention, standing out in a crowded marketplace has never been more important.

But when it comes to standing out from the masses, it’s all about the little things.

What can you do in your business to add value, to make your customer feel special, to show appreciation and reinforce that their decision to buy from you was the right decision?

How can you deliver simple everyday things in an extraordinary way?

Imagine getting a thank you note handwritten from the business you just purchased from? Now that’s meaningful – that breaks through the ‘noise’. Think about it, you might receive 20 emails a day but you certainly don’t receive hand-written thank-you notes.

And for taking the extra moment to go the extra mile, you’ll be nurturing a customer who is dedicated to your business for life; as well as referring everyone they know!

Make it your mission to find ways to surprise and thrill your customers.

What could you give your clients after they purchase, to surprise and delight them?

  • Perhaps it’s a giveaway

  • Perhaps it’s a special voucher for a returning customer to reward them for returning.

  • If you’re in a digital business it could be a download

  • It could be the copy of an audio recording or MP3

  • It could be a special discount to the next product that you’re offering or an offer thats not available to the general public.

Remember, standing-out doesn’t have to be expensive, in fact it doesn’t even have to cost you anything – It just has to be thoughtful and human. Get creative with it and have fun!
